Gisell Acosta

Less noise in your head. More focus on what matters.

Clinical psychologist in San Lorenzo and online. Using ACT, a contextual therapy backed by science, I work with teenagers and adults in a space with no judgment.

You do not have to be in a crisis to want to feel better.

About me

Clinical psychologist with a focus on contextual therapies.

I am Gisell. I work with people who come in worn out from fighting their own mind: the one that races ahead to everything that could go wrong, the one that expects too much of you, the one that replays the same scene at three in the morning. My job is not to get you to stop feeling what you feel, but to stop it from deciding for you.

Every process is different, so you will not find a one-size-fits-all recipe here. What you will find is a place where what you feel makes sense, and tools I use because they are proven, not because they sound nice.

I see teenagers and adults at Centro Alas, in San Lorenzo, and by video call from wherever you are.

My approach

It is not about feeling less. It is about choosing better.

I work with ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: a contextual therapy backed by science. The goal is not to stop you from feeling what you feel, but to stop that from holding you back. It is built on three moves.

  1. 01 · Make room

    Stop fighting what you feel

Trying to shake off anxiety, guilt or fear is exhausting, and it does not work. Here you learn to make room for them so you can keep going, instead of spending the whole day pushing them away.

  2. 02 · Step back

A thought is not an order

“I'm not cut out for this,” “this is going to go wrong.” You learn to look at those thoughts from the outside instead of obeying them without realizing it.

  3. 03 · Choose

Move toward what matters to you

We look at what truly matters to you and take concrete steps in that direction, even if fear comes along for the ride. You do not have to wait until you feel okay to start.

The evidence provides the method. I provide the space where you can be yourself.

Leerlo es una cosa. Probarlo es otra.

What starting a process with me looks like.

Three steps, no fuss. You take the first one; the rest we walk together.

  1. 01

    Message me

All it takes is a WhatsApp message. Just message me, no need to explain anything yet: we will work out the day, the time and whether it is at the office or by video call.

  2. 02

    First session

We meet and talk about what brings you here. It is a space with no judgment, at your own pace.

“You do not need to come in with a rehearsed speech: untangling things is part of my job, not yours.”
  3. 03

    The process

We set concrete goals and keep reviewing them, session by session.

“Therapy is a dynamic process: you will learn new skills and find tools to put them to use.”
